The Center for Civil Society and Democracy joined a number of Syrian feminist movements and organisations in signing a statement affirming that women’s rights and meaningful participation are essential to building a democratic state founded on equal citizenship and the rule of law.
The statement calls for concrete steps to strengthen women’s political representation, reform discriminatory laws, protect refugee and displaced women, institutionalise a gender perspective across state institutions, and ensure comprehensive transitional justice alongside clear mechanisms for monitoring and accountability.
