As collaboration deepens between Space for Collaboration, hosted by the Center for Civil Society and Democracy (CCSD), and the Women Peacebuilding Network in Lebanon (WPNL), hosted by UN Women in Lebanon, partners have organized a series of events to strengthen dialogue and coordination between Syrian and Lebanese women.

On 13 February 2026, a joint delegation from the Space for Collaboration and WPNL met with Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Tarek Mitri to promote women’s leadership in advancing shared Syrian-Lebanese priorities. During the meeting, the delegation presented a statement emphasizing the critical importance of meaningful women’s participation in ongoing and future dialogue and cooperation between Syria and Lebanon, particularly on humanitarian issues. The statement underscored that women’s leadership, expertise, and skills are essential to ensuring inclusive, credible, and sustainable dialogue, and to reinforcing commitments to the Women, Peace, and Security agenda.

UN Women Lebanon also hosted a working dinner in collaboration with the Civil Society and Democracy Center (CCSD) in Syria, bringing together representatives from Space for Cooperation – Syria and the Women Peacemakers Network Lebanon (WPNL), along with officials from several embassies and international partners, including representatives from the embassies of Norway, Canada, Finland, Switzerland, the UNHCR, and UN Women Syria, with participation from the CCSD in Syria.

The dinner provided a rare opportunity for diplomatic and international partners to engage directly and informally with Syrian and Lebanese women leaders, hear about their experiences, and learn about their joint work on issues such as the missing, promoting women’s role in public life, and the role of education and oral history in peacebuilding. It also aimed to strengthen relationships and the human dimension of ongoing cooperation between WPNL and Space for Cooperation, creating meaningful connections for women-led peace and security work in both countries.
