The Center for Civil Society and Democracy has joined a broad coalition of human rights, cultural, political, and humanitarian organizations in endorsing legislation introduced by Congresswomen Rashida Tlaib and Debbie Dingell to reintroduce the resolution designating April as Arab American Heritage Month.
This position reflects CCSD’s broader commitment to advancing diversity, inclusion, and meaningful civic participation. It also underscores the organization’s ongoing dedication to supporting Syrians in the United States, including their Arab identity, and to strengthening their visibility, voice, and engagement with diverse communities across the country.
Support for initiatives that amplify the voices of Americans of Syrian, Arab, and other backgrounds is part of a wider commitment to solidarity and to promoting pluralism and civic engagement. These values align with CCSD’s principles of contributing to a more open and inclusive Syria.
From this perspective, CCSD reaffirms its commitment to building bridges between communities and promoting participatory civic engagement among Syrians, in collaboration with communities around the world.
