The Center for Civil Society and Democracy in Syria (CCSD) is an independent, non-profit, non-governmental, U.S.-based 501 (c3) organization. CCSD has branches that support its work in the US (CCSDS), Turkey (CCSDT), and the Netherlands. CCSD seeks to build a stable and just society where peace and respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms prevail.

CCSDS is organized to raise awareness of the benefits of a democratic society in Syria, to promote democratic values within Syria, and to devise new ways to connect communities through democratic ideology in Syria. We aim to cultivate hope and support for the Syrian democratic movement by empowering Syrian civil society, building the bridge between the American public and Syrian civil society, and using lessons learned from the international community and Syria to achieve a future for Syria where sustainable peace and justice prevail. To fulfill our mission, CCSDS partners with different local organizations and strategic partners in Syria and the neighboring countries. CCSDS and our partners have been working to strengthen and support Syrian civil society for more than a decade. Our programming supports sustainable and long-term Syrian-led movements for peace, justice, and democracy in Syria.

Job Summary

CCSDS is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual for the position of Development Coordinator. We are looking for a recent graduate student or soon-to-be graduate who is enthusiastic about promoting CCSDS’ mission and ready to help move the organization’s development department to the next level. The Development Coordinator will be a key assistant to the Program and the Development Team within the organization and report to the Grant Manager. The Development Coordinator will support the Development Department’s growth and impact by assisting with essential tasks, including grant writing, resource scheduling, donor mapping, and event coordination. The Development Coordinator will also play a supportive role in the management of grants.

Development Support:

  1. Support the grant writing and program development processes, including producing lesson-learned documents and impact reports.
  2. Contribute to the learning and development of the organizations, including continuous analysis of potential supporters and friends.
  3. Executing various tasks such as donor mapping, outreach planning, and organizing meetings.
  4. Assist with creating and implementing the Development Plan incorporating various strategies.
  5. Assist with the production and implementation of resource mobilization.
  6. Support team members when planning any events and missions in the development department.

Administrative Support:

  1. Monitoring the progress in the development department and creating status reports for executive managers, directors, and stakeholders.
  2. Tracking all the related activities within the development department to ensure sustainability and progress.
  3. Scheduling meetings with donors and potential funders and facilitating communication between the management and funders periodically.
  4. Assisting with resource scheduling so that team members and our strategic partners have the necessary resources to complete their tasks.

The Successful Candidate will have the Following Qualifications and Skills

  • Hold a BA, ideally a Master’s degree in international relations/international development or other related fields.
  • At least 1-2 years of relevant experience (internships or professional work) in non-profit development or international relations.
  • Have the ability to meet deadlines while following through on multiple projects and tasks.
  • Skilled in identifying growth opportunities, analyzing challenges, and providing innovative solutions and creative ideas to drive organizational success and development.
  • Proficiency in English is required; fluency in Arabic is an asset.
  • Be supportive of CCSDS’s mission and highly dedicated to contributing to our efforts to achieve it.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. full-time. This position is unavailable for employment-based visa sponsorship (including H-1B sponsorship).
  • Knowledge of anti-corruption and transparency mechanisms and commitment to transparency in all functions.
  • Be a friendly, flexible, and supportive team member with excellent written and oral communication and analytic skills.

Location

Remote anywhere in the US. Travel may be required up to 15% of the time.

Compensation

Salary will be commensurate with experience based on a 40-hour work week.
