In December 2013, the Center for Civil Society and Democracy, in partnership with the Peaceful Change Initiative, undertook a mapping of community-level resources of peace in nine provinces inside Syria.
The report, “Building Peace within Syrian Communities” ,captures key insights from the mapping research, including:
• The important ways in which communities are actively working to prevent, manage and resolve conflict inside Syria,
• The different kinds of local leaders and institutions that communities are relying on to help manage and resolve conflicts
• The mechanisms that are used to intervene to resolve conflict and promote peace
In addition, the report lays out an agenda for supporting the development and strengthening of community-level resources for peace in Syria
