Today, the Center for Civil Society and Democracy (CCSD) celebrates its thirteenth anniversary while witnessing the fall of the Assad Dictatorship and the release of thousands of detainees. For the past thirteen years, we have worked to realize our vision for all Syrians to live and participate in a democratic society with sustainable peace and enjoy their full rights and freedoms.
We have prepared for the transition through many of our programs and work, including women, youth, and civil society empowerment. We have produced the CCSD’s vision for the political process in Syria based on the Geneva Communique in 2013 and SCR 2254 in 2017. In addition, CCSD produced the six-point road map that we shared with the UN Security Council in 2019 and our inputs for the constitutional process in 2022. In addition, we facilitated the eighth conference of the Space for Collaboration.
While we work on the democratic transition in Syria, we call upon all Syrian actors to ensure transparency and accountability mechanisms at each step in the transition process and governance institutions. We call upon you to work with us To achieve a better future for Syria and contribute to implementing the following six steps.
