Peacebuilding Advisor Turkey Up-to one year (12 months)
Background
The Center for Civil Society and Democracy (CCSD) is a Syrian non-profit NGO registered in Turkey and its mission is to support sustainable social impact by strengthening civil society and democracy and promoting the values of freedom, justice and coexistence. CCSD works on empowering Syrian women leadership and participation; civil society capacity development; good governance; peacebuilding, transitional justice, conflict mitigation, and independent media. CCSD’s work takes place in Syria, Turkey, Lebanon, and Iraqi Kurdistan. Nearly 30 percent of CCSD’s staff members are women, and women are included at the highest levels of decision-making.
Scope of work
The successful candidate will provide peacebuilding programming advice, including workshop and training tailored to the degree possible to the Syrian context. The guidance and training shall be aimed at headquarter- and field-based staff who vary in knowledge of the topic from beginner to intermediate (majority beginner).

Where possible, training and guidance should also have some reference to international standards and procedures such as the Turkey Cross-Border Protection Cluster’s Gender-Based Violence and Child Protection sub clusters’ endorsed standard operating procedures (SOPs), techniques and materials. The training is to take place at a yet to be determined date.

The main expected results of the successful candidate’s services as Peacebuilding Advisor, may include but is not limited to the following tasks. These include all participating staff to increase their knowledge and skills in:
• The definition and purpose of conflict sensitivity and peacebuilding;
• Mainstreaming conflict sensitive and innovative peacebuilding approaches into programming and service provision;
• Mainstreaming peacebuilding in monitoring and evaluation processes, data collection methods and analysis;
• Building knowledge of women’s leadership in peacebuilding in the Syria context with examples from different countries; and
• Practical implementation of peacebuilding activities to ensure programme approaches are tailored to each areas’ needs.
