Transitional justice can facilitate the process of democratic transition in the future if it is implemented properly and fully, with the active participation of civil society. It can also play a role in achieving community reconciliation among Syrians, in addition to supporting national reconciliation. Transitional justice mechanisms can also provide alternatives for individuals other than violence and retaliation by providing accountability and rights.
